He Did It For Us

We’re getting ready to read something this morning that was accurately, perfectly, written about Jesus, 700 YEARS BEFORE HE WAS BORN. Let me say that again. This was written, 700 YEARS BEFORE HE WAS BORN.
The same God that saw 700 years down the road, is the same God that sees what’s going to take place in your life 24-48 hours from now, as well as weeks and years. That right there alone is powerful. This lets us know that,
📝 Before you ever had a PROBLEM, God had a SOLUTION.
📝 Before you ever went into your PANIC, God already sent His PEACE.
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6
It’s so much to talk about this verse, that time just won’t allow. We could talk about that word wonderful, and how it isn’t defined by how we define the word wonderful. The Hebrew word for "Wonderful" means miraculous. That means Jesus is a miraculous counselor, unlike any earthly counselor. He can do what no one else can ever do.
Jesus knows all because He’s omniscient, meaning knowing all things. Don’t go a day, don’t go a second, don’t go a moment without leaning into His counsel. He knows ALL things.
Colossians 2:3 says this about Jesus,
“in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”

When you have Jesus in your life, you have the answer with you at all times because Jesus is the answer to every question, the solution to every problem. This is what I mean when I say, Before you ever had a PROBLEM, God had a SOLUTION!
Isaiah saw this baby that was to be born in a manger, and Isaiah called this baby A MIGHTY GOD. Don’t let the looks fool you. Wrapped up in that swaddling cloth, behind that baby’s scream, behind that baby’s cry, behind that baby’s goo goo ga ga, that’s sipping that milk IS A MIGHTY GOD! I know He might not look like much now, but just keep watching. There’s NOBODY like Him. Luke 1:49 says,
“For He Who Is Mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name.”

Isaiah saw Him, and Isaiah called Him everlasting Father. To say Jesus is the "Everlasting Father" means He was, is, and will always be. Psalm 90:2 says,
Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, FROM EVERLASTING TO EVERLASTING YOU ARE GOD. Psalm 90:2
An Everlasting Father is one who cares for, protects, and provides for His children, and that's exactly what Jesus did when He was here on earth. Psalm 68:5 says,
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. Psalm 68:5
There’s nobody like Him!
Isaiah said he’s my prince of peace which means “the one who removes all peace-disturbing factors and secures the peace.” He has rule, reign, and jurisdiction over my peace. Not the world. Not my circumstances, just Him alone has the first and last say so over my peace. This baby will grow into a man, and one day say as our Lord in John 14:27,
"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
John 14:27
I don’t know about you, but THIS PEACE THAT I HAVE, THE WORLD DIDN’T GIVE IT TO ME AND THE WORLD CAN’T TAKE IT AWAY!
If I had time we would go into depth about each of those, but that’s not what’s on my heart this morning. This morning that first phrase is on my heart that I want us to reflect on just for a moment. Isaiah 9:6 says,
“For UNTO US a child is born, UNTO US a son is given…

I want to speak to you for a moment from this subject:
HE DID IT FOR US
HE DID IT FOR US
He did what for us? ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING.
Have you ever thought about it???
📝 Jesus VACATED THE THRONE for us.
Jesus vacated His seat, at the right hand of God.
Jesus vacated heavenly PERFECTION, for earth’s IMPERFECTION. Jesus vacated heavenly PEACE, for earthly CHAOS. Jesus vacated heaven’s ROYALTY, for earth’s REJECTION. He did it all for us.
He vacated the throne so that He could fill our hearts. He knew that…
📝 A VACATED THRONE in heaven, meant FULL HEARTS on earth.
📝 He did it to BE WITH US.
📝 He knew that we would never make it to Him ON OUR OWN, so He came to us ON HIS OWN.
To this John wrote in John 1:14,
“And the Word became flesh AND DWELT AMONG US, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”
John 1:14
He dwelt among us because He wanted to be with us.
He dwelt among us because He wanted a relationship with us.
Matthew 1:23 says,
““Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.””

He would go on to be with us, not just in the majestic manger scene moments, but He would go on to be with us in the messy Psalm 23:4moments. Psalm 23:4 says,
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For YOU ARE WITH ME; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

He did it for us. We know that He did it for us, and us alone because….
📝 He had NOTHING TO GAIN BUT US.
I couldn’t give Him gold. I couldn’t give Him silver. I couldn’t give him riches or anything of worth. Psalm 24:1 says,
“The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; The world, and they that dwell therein.”

The only thing that He would gain would be us. To Him, that would be enough.
📝 By gaining us He gained our SINS.
📝 By gaining us He gained our SORROWS.
📝 By gaining us He gained eternal SIBLINGS.
By gaining us He gained our SINS…
“He made Christ who knew no sin to [judicially] be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we would become the righteousness of God [that is, we would be made acceptable to Him and placed in a right relationship with Him by His gracious lovingkindness].”
2 Corinthians 5:21
📝 By gaining us He gained our SORROWS…
We all know that heaven is perfect. We all know that heaven is flawless but earth isn’t. He left heaven to come to earth, only to experience things He never would’ve experienced if he would’ve remained in Heaven. Jesus vacated heavenly PERFECTION, for earth’s IMPERFECTION. If he would’ve remained in Heaven, He never would’ve experienced Isaiah 53:3 where it says,
“He is DESPISED and REJECTED by men, A Man of SORROWS and acquainted with GRIEF. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.”

This was all new to Him. This was all foreign to Him. This wasn’t how Jesus, the Son of God was treated in Heaven. But by vacating the thrown, and by gaining us, he also gained sorrow, grief, and rejection. He had nothing to gain out of the deal except YOU, and in return Jesus said send me I’ll go! From the manger all the way to the hurt, grief, and sorrow, Jesus said it was ALL worth it if He could just have you!
By gaining us He gained eternal SIBLINGS.
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become CHILDREN OF GOD, to those who believe in His name:”
John 1:12
From the throne, from heaven, to the manger, all the way to the cross, HE DID IT FOR US. Emphasis on "US.”
📝 You were not EXCLUDED.
📝 You were valued as WORTH IT.
Revelation 21:11-21 tells us that,
Heaven is made of rare jewels, jasper, crystals, high walls, 12 gates, a measuring tape made of gold was used to measure it, the city was made out of pure gold like glass, the foundations of the walls were adorned with every type of jewel, the 12 gates were 12 pearls, each of the gates were made of single pearls, and the streets of the city were made of pure gold.
He vacated the throne, and ALL OF THIS FOR YOU. Jesus’s actions prove that to Him you’re more valuable than silver, you’re more valuable than gold, you’re more valuable than gates of pearls, or rare jewels. When I say He did it for us, YOU WERE NOT EXCLUDED IN THE "US.” YOU WERE VALUED AS WORTH IT!!!
This Christmas I’m praying that God will give you the gift of sight, and that you’ll begin to see yourself how He sees you. From there, I pray you begin to open up the gift that you are and that Psalm 139:14 will become your life verse that says,
“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.”

📝 Our WONDERFUL COUNSELOR created you WONDERFULLY MADE.

He did it for us church. He did it for us.
HAVE YOU INCLUDED YOURSELF IN THIS WORTH?
HAVE YOU INCLUDED YOURSELF IN HIS LOVE?
He did it to BE WITH US.
He knew that we would never make it to Him ON OUR OWN, so He came to us ON HIS OWN.
He came down to rescue us from our sins. He came down to rescue us from ourselves. He came down to rescue us from the lies of the enemy.
You are loved.
You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
You were worth it.
My love came down to prove it.
