I want to speak to you today from this subject…
FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS
I love this story, because this story is a story of hope. I love this story, because this story is a story of power.
This story defines that our God truly is omniscient, ALL KNOWING. This story declares to us that truly our God is omnipotent, ALL POWERFUL.
"Go into the village opposite you, where as you enter you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Loose it and bring it here.”
Luke 19:30
Verse 32 goes on to say…
“So those who were sent went their way and found it JUST AS HE HAD SAID TO THEM...
Luke 19:32
This one moment showed His omniscience, His all knowing abilities, and the good news in today’s message is this…
YOU’RE THE COLT IN THIS STORY.
And the same way that Jesus Christ knew exactly where that Colt was, and what that Colt was going through, is the same way that Jesus knows where you are, and what you’re going through!
You’ve been walking around secretly asking yourself, does anybody really see what I’m going through? Can anybody hear my cry behind my smile? Can anybody hear my cry behind my, "I’m good, how are you?” Does anybody really know what I’m going through? Does anybody really know that I’m doing the best that I can, but every time I put one foot forward, something comes along and knocks me two steps back. Does anybody SEE? Does anybody HEAR? Does anybody KNOW? I’m here to answer those questions for you this morning —the omniscient one Jesus Christ SEES. He HEARS. He KNOWS. The Bible says they found the Colt in the exact place JUST AS HE HAD SAID TO THEM.
HE KNOWS WHERE YOU ARE.
He knows where you are, and what you’re going through. The same went for the children of Israel. God told Moses in Exodus 3:7,
“And the Lord said: “I have surely SEEN the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have HEARD their cry because of their taskmasters, for I KNOW their sorrows.”
Exodus 3:7
📝 God SEES.
📝 God HEARS.
📝 God KNOWS.
“You have searched me, Lord, and YOU KNOW ME.”
Psalms 139:1
📝 God KNOWS ME, yet still LOVES ME.
“YOU KNOW when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.”
Psalms 139:2-3
“Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.”
Psalms 139:4
He knows. God knew the answer to a question that Abraham never would’ve known to ask.
“Then He said to Abram: “KNOW CERTAINLY that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years.”
Genesis 15:13
“But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out with great possessions.”
Genesis 15:14
AFTERWARD
📝 Your AFFLICTION has an EXPIRATION DATE!
“Years passed, and the king of Egypt died. But the Israelites continued to groan under their burden of slavery. They cried out for help, and their cry rose up to God.”
Exodus 2:23
“God heard their groaning, and he remembered his covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
Exodus 2:24
“He looked down on the people of Israel AND KNEW IT WAS TIME TO ACT.”
Exodus 2:25
HE KNOWS WHAT HAS YOU BOUND.
For the colt it was the rope.
“saying, “Go into the village opposite you, where as you enter you will find a colt tied…
Luke 19:30
WHAT’S YOUR ROPE?
The moment you start to say YES to God, here comes fear, doubt, anxiety, and insecurities roping you back in.
What is it that keeps roping you back in?
HE KNOWS WHAT HAS YOU BOUND.
For the children of Israel it was their taskmasters.
“And the Lord said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry BECAUSE OF THEIR TASKMASTERS, for I know their sorrows.”
Exodus 3:7
WHAT’S YOUR TASKMASTER?
A taskmaster is that thing that whatever it tells you to do, you go do it.
It tells you to go into depression, and you go.
It tells you to go into anxiety, and you follow it’s lead. It tells you to go look at pornography and off you go. It tells you to go be busy, and you make up something to do. It tells you to lose your temper, and you just lose it. It tells you to go get drunk, and you go to the store. It tells you to go get high, and you listen to it’s voice.
“But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.””
John 10:5
📝 It’s time to introduce that TASKMASTER, to your LORD, Jesus Christ.
HE HAS THE POWER TO SET YOU FREE.
“And if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you loosing it?’ thus you shall say to him, ‘Because the Lord has need of it.’ ””
Luke 19:31
“So those who were sent went their way and found it just as He had said to them. But as they were loosing the colt, the owners of it said to them, “Why are you loosing the colt?””
Luke 19:32-33
“And they said, “The Lord has need of him.” Then they brought him to Jesus…
Luke 19:34-35
“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”
John 8:36
“So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey….
Exodus 3:8
“Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?””
Numbers 14:3
“And they said to each other, “We should choose a leader AND GO BACK TO EGYPT.””
Numbers 14:4
📝 Once God delivers you from EGYPT, you have to purpose in your heart NOT TO GO BACK to EGYPT.
And here’s why….
THE LORD HAS NEED OF YOU.
Jesus said, “saying, “Go into the village opposite you, where as you enter you will find a colt tied, on which NO ONE HAS EVER SAT…
Luke 19:30
I want to show you something because where I’m getting ready to go might not be as far fetch as it seems.
“Then THE LORD GAVE THE DONKEY THE ABILITY TO SPEAK. “What have I done to you that deserves your beating me three times?” it asked Balaam.”
Numbers 22:28
““You have made me look like a fool!” Balaam shouted. “If I had a sword with me, I would kill you!” “But I am the same donkey you have ridden all your life,” the donkey answered. “Have I ever done anything like this before?” “No,” Balaam admitted.”
Numbers 22:29-30
“Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the roadway with a drawn sword in his hand. Balaam bowed his head and fell face down on the ground before him.”
Numbers 22:31
As time passed, I can’t but help to wonder all of the thoughts that the Colt could’ve thought to himself.
"Maybe I was right with all of those thoughts that I thought about myself. Why hasn’t anybody ridden my yet? Why am I always the one to get passed over. Maybe I’m not enough. Maybe I am a mistake. Maybe it’s too late for me. Maybe I am unworthy, unqualified, unuseful. Who was I kidding thinking that God could use someone like me. Maybe all those dreams and aspirations just wasn’t meant to be.”
Then one day here comes Jesus’s disciples, loosing him, and letting him go. And when asked what they were doing, that Colt overheard the disciples to tell his owner something that changed everything. The Colt that felt forgotten. The Colt that felt overlooked heard these words that changed everything….
BECAUSE THE LORD HAS NEED OF HIM.
One could only imagine the look in that colts eyes as he turned the corner and locked eyes with Jesus for the first time. One can only imagine the conversation that Jesus and that Colt could’ve had in their thoughts towards one another in this moment.
You want to use me?
You want to ride on me, right now in this moment, in front of all these people, on Palm Sunday? You want to make your triumphant entry on me?
I thought you forgot about me.
I thought that I wasn’t good enough.
I thought it was because of this blemish on my back leg, and all of these blemishes in my life.
I picture Jesus reaching out His hand comforting that Colt in this moment. No, no. I saw you. I heard your cries. I knew where you were the entire time. I’ve waited to bring you forth now FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS. Let us not forget—YOU ARE THE COLT IN THIS STORY.
You’ve been sent here to earth, FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS. You’ve been strategically placed, to be alive NOW, FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS.
It’s your time.
It’s your season.
Step into your moment.
How do I know? The Bible says in Acts 17:26
“From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and HE MARKED OUT THEIR APPOINTED TIMES in history AND THE BOUNDARIES OF THEIR LANDS.”
Acts 17:26
I call Heaven and Earth as witnesses today, as I proclaim to you IN THIS MOMENT, you’ve been sent, you’ve been placed, you’ve been tried, you’ve been prepared, you’ve been preserved FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS.
📝 I’VE BEEN SENT. I’VE BEEN PLACED. I’VE BEEN TRIED. I’VE BEEN PREPARED. I’VE BEEN PRESERVED, FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS.
WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH THIS MOMENT?
“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS?””
Esther 4:14
WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH THIS MOMENT?
ARE YOU GOING TO RUN BACK TO EGYPT?
ARE YOU GOING TO ALLOW LOW SELF ESTEEM, AND LACK OF SELF WORTH KEEP YOU TIRD TO THE POST?
Or are you going to step into this moment?
Lay down every excuse, every voice that’s not His voice, every burden that you’ve been carrying and step into your moment. You were born FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS.
