"He Did It Knowing All Things"
Pastor Albert Almore
We kicked off our time for the month of December with a message called, "He Did It For Us.” That message was inspired by Isaiah 9:6 where it says,
“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6
He Did It For Us
The following week we gleaned from a message titled, "He Did It For Them.” Peter boldly told the crowds in Acts 2:39,
“The promise is for you AND YOUR CHILDREN and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.””
Acts 2:39
We must always be reminded, that He didn’t just do it for us, He also did it for them, and the generations to come. This week Hebrews chapter 10, claims our attention. Hebrews 10:1 reads,
“The old system under the law of Moses was only a shadow, a dim preview of the good things to come, not the good things themselves. The sacrifices under that system were repeated again and again, year after year, but they were never able to provide perfect cleansing for those who came to worship.”
Hebrews 10:1
“If they could have provided perfect cleansing, the sacrifices would have stopped, for the worshipers would have been purified once for all time, and their feelings of guilt would have disappeared.”
Hebrews 10:2
“But instead, those sacrifices actually reminded them of their sins year after year.”
Hebrews 10:3
“For it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.”
Hebrews 10:4
“Therefore, when Christ enters into the world, He says, “Sacrifice and offering You have not desired, But [instead] You have prepared a body for Me [to offer];”
Hebrews 10:5
I want to speak to you from this subject today,
HE DID IT KNOWING ALL THINGS
He Did It For Us, He Did It For Them, He Did It Knowing All Things
Christ saw the condition of mankind, took one look at the Father and He knew what He had to do. Colossians 1:17 says,
“He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
Colossians 1:17
One day, The One who holds all things together, said prepare for me a body. I’ll become one of them, to save them. I’ll enter their world, so that one day they can enter our heaven and be with us forever. I’ll do whatever it takes to redeem them. If it takes me leaving Heaven to go to them, prepare a body for me. I’ll go. Listen to the scripture again,
“Therefore, when CHRIST ENTERS INTO THE WORLD, He says, “Sacrifice and offering You have not desired, But [instead] You have prepared a body FOR ME [TO OFFER];”
Hebrews 10:5
You have prepared a body FOR ME [TO OFFER]…
He did it for us, He did it for them, but what got me was He Did It Knowing All Things. Christ makes the journey from heaven, knowing all that He has to give up to become one of us. Christ enters into the world, knowing how this has to play out, knowing what has to be done, knowing that He wouldn’t be exempt from tears. Knowing that He wouldn’t be exempt from pain. Knowing that He wouldn’t be exempt from suffering, and agony when His time came. We know this is true because as the reality of the cross came near, Luke 22:44 says,
And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. Luke 22:44
He Did It Knowing All Things.
Jesus left PARADISE for PERDITION. Jesus left PEACE for PAIN. Jesus left TRANQUILITY for TROUBLE. He did it knowing all things, yet still He chose to enter the world, and said prepare a body for me to offer.
📝 Jesus didn’t come to earth as a TOURIST, Jesus came to earth as an OFFERING.
He didn’t come just to give an offering, HE WAS THE OFFERING. You have prepared a body FOR ME TO OFFER….
Jesus didn’t come to earth for a SABBATICAL, Jesus came to be SACRIFICED.
He did it knowing all things, knowing how this would play out, knowing what had to be done, and He WILLINGLY still said yes. We know that while Jesus was here, He was aware of all things. John 13:1 gave us a glimpse by saying,
“It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.”
John 13:1
Jesus also says in Mark 14:7-8,
“You will always have the poor among you, and you can help them whenever you want to. But you will not always have me. She has done what she could and has anointed MY BODY FOR BURIAL AHEAD OF TIME.”
Mark 14:7-8
He Did It Knowing All Things.
But the question is, why did He do it????
📝 He did it because He wanted you to KNOW what He already KNEW. He wanted you to know that you’re IRREVOCABLY VALUABLE.
IRREVOCABLY VALUABLE.
There’s nothing that you can do to revoke God’s love. There’s nothing that you can do to revoke you being made in God’s image and God’s likeness. Therefore, there’s nothing that you can do to revoke your value.
📝 Your value is BEYOND RECALL.
Nothing can recall what God has spoken over you. Nothing can recall what God has done for you. Your value is beyond recall!
The words that the bridegroom spoke to His bride in Song of Solomon is the same thing that Christ is saying to you. Song of Solomon 4:7 says,
You are ALTOGETHER BEAUTIFUL, my love; THERE IS NO FLAW IN YOU. Song of Solomon 4:7
There is no flaw IN YOU, because of what Christ has done FOR YOU. Let’s look at it more intently again. Hebrews 10:1 says,
The old system under the law of Moses was only a shadow, a dim preview of the good things to come, not the good things themselves.
“But instead, those sacrifices actually reminded them of their sins year after year. For it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats TO TAKE AWAY SINS.”
Hebrews 10:3-4
The saints of old never had access to this perfect cleansing BUT WE DO! Jesus Christ was the perfect sacrifice. Since Jesus Christ was the perfect sacrifice, it’s time for those feelings of guilt and condemnation to disappear.
Goodbye guilt, hello grace!
Goodbye pity, hello purpose!
Goodbye condemnation, hello calling!
It’s time to be reminded no more from a self inflicting way of your past. Why? Because Christ took it away. He took it away by entering the world and offering His body. He did it knowing all things. Therefore you’ve been forgiven. Therefore you’ve been redeemed. Therefore you’ve been called. You’ve been chosen. You’ve been justified. Not by the blood of bulls or goats, BUT BY THE PRECIOUS LAMB OF GOD. When John the Baptist saw Him, John said in John 1:29,
…"Look, THE LAMB OF GOD, who takes away the sin of the world!”
John 1:29
John the Baptist had an understanding of the lamb of God that went all the way back to Exodus. God says in Exodus 12:3,
“Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself A LAMB, according to the house of his father, A LAMB for a household.”
Exodus 12:3
“Your lamb shall be WITHOUT BLEMISH, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats.”
Exodus 12:5
““Take special care of this CHOSEN ANIMAL until the evening of the fourteenth day of this first month. Then the whole assembly of the community of Israel must SLAUGHTER THEIR LAMB or young goat at twilight.”
Exodus 12:6
“They are to take some of the blood and smear it on the sides and top of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the animal.”
Exodus 12:7
“Now THE BLOOD SHALL BE A SIGN FOR YOU on the houses where you are. And WHEN I SEE THE BLOOD, I WILL PASS OVER YOU; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.”
Exodus 12:13
All of this is significant and connected to the Christmas Story. The angels told the Shepherds in Luke 2:12,
“And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.””
Luke 2:12
Though often regarded as lowly, and insignificant, these shepherds in the Christmas Story weren’t your typical shepherds. These shepherds were not just watching over regular sheep. These shepherds were watching over what many refer to as TEMPLE SHEEP. Sheep that were being bred and protected to be sacrificed at the temple in Jerusalem.
These shepherds were accustomed to preparing lambs which symbolically represent SINLESS JESUS in their cleanliness, perfection, and their sacrifice on the altar of the temple, similar to Jesus’s sacrifice for us on the cross. These shepherds who kept them had a special royal task. They were trained to make sure that none of the animals were hurt, damaged, or blemished. These precious lambs were wrapped in “swaddling cloths” to protect them from injury and blemishes. The same type of swaddling cloths that the angel told the shepherds that this would be their sign that this was the baby that they were looking for. This would be their sign that this was God’s chosen one—the one born and chosen to die. This is why John the Baptist was mesmerized when he saw Him. All John could say was, "Look! There He is. This is the one. The precious lamb of God.”
📝 Christ THE PREPARED LAMB, came to PREPARE HIS PEOPLE, for A PREPARED PLACE called Heaven.
He came to prepare us by the gift of salvation.
"Until you understand all that I left in HEAVEN, you’ll never understand the true significance of me coming to earth.” -Jesus
The manger is living proof that there’s nothing that I won’t give up just to be with you.
I gave up Heaven to be with you. I gave up my seat at the right hand of the Father. I gave up my crown. I gave up my title. I gave up worship, riches and splendor. And if that wasn’t enough I gave up my life just to be with you. I DID IT KNOWING ALL THINGS.
How do we know that He did it knowing all things? Revelation 13:8 tells us,
“And all the people who belong to this world worshiped the beast. They are the ones whose names were not written in the Book of Life that belongs to THE LAMB WHO WAS SLAUGHTERED BEFORE THE WORLD WAS MADE.”
Revelation 13:8
HE DID IT KNOWING ALL THINGS
“Therefore, when Christ enters into the world, He says, “Sacrifice and offering You have not desired, But [instead] You have prepared a body for Me [TO OFFER];”
Hebrews 10:5
HE DID IT KNOWING ALL THINGS
Christ came TO OFFER US HIS ALL. When John the Baptist saw Him, He called Him the Lamb of God. He would be the one to offer us His All.
IN WHAT AREA OF YOUR LIFE HAVE YOU YET TO OFFER TO GOD?
