"The God of Heaven"

Last week we concluded our service by singing through it all, through it all, my eyes are on YOU. As we sang our eyes are on YOU, we were singing to, and singing about our MATCHLESS God—THE GOD OF HEAVEN. After hearing the condition of God’s people, Nehemiah 1:4 says,
“When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before THE GOD OF HEAVEN.”

That’s our sermon title for today:
THE GOD OF HEAVEN
Nehemiah called Him, THE GOD OF HEAVEN . Make no mistake about it people of God, THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN. Don’t you allow this fallen world try to tell you anything different. Don’t you allow your circumstances try to tell you anything different. There is a God in heaven. That’s good news right there because whatever God is asking you to build, you won’t have to build it on your own. Whatever God is asking you to start, you won’t have to start it on your own. Whatever God is asking you to write, you won’t have to write it on your own. Whatever God is asking you to lead, you won’t have to lead it on your own.
Therefore when it comes to the dream. When it comes to the vision. When it comes to whatever God has laid on your heart to do, don’t leave The God of Heaven OUT OF THE EQUATION.
In everything that you do, be sure to factor in His FAVOR. In everything that you do, be sure to factor in His HAND. In everything that you do, be sure to factor in His MIGHT. Zechariah 4:6 tells us this where it says,
“…Not by might nor by power, BUT BY MY SPIRIT,’ Says the Lord of hosts.”

but by My Spirit…
HIS SPIRIT MAKES UP THE DIFFERENCE.
HIS VASTNESS FILLS IN THE GAPS.
HIS VOICE SUMMONS ALL OF CREATION TO HIS DISPOSAL TO CARRY OUT HIS WILL.
The best way I can describe Him, is….
HE’S A COLOSSAL GOD.
I know life keeps you busy, I know life keeps you on the go, but I must ask you this morning,
HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED THE RESUME OF THE GOD OF HEAVEN?
His resume is 66 books long, all compiled into one book called THE BIBLE, with 39 books in the Old Testament, and 27 in the new! There you will find His entire resume, but this morning let’s just look at a few things that jumped out to me from the God of Heaven’s resume, the first being His birthday.
The God Of Heaven’s Birthday:
ALWAYS WAS/ ALWAYS IS / ALWAYS WILL BE
Psalm 90:2 rightfully declares,
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, FROM EVERLASTING to EVERLASTING YOU ARE God. Psalm 90:2
His birth date is everlasting. His life span is everlasting. He has no beginning, He has no end. HE HAS NO DASH IN BETWEEN. FROM EVERLASTING to EVERLASTING HE’S GOD!
Revelation 1:8…
““I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “WHO IS and WHO WASand WHO IS TO COME, the Almighty.””

This is why the people couldn’t grasp The Son Of God. One day Jesus said in John 8:56,
“Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day. He saw it and was glad.””
John 8:56
“So the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?””
John 8:57
“Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, BEFORE ABRAHAM WAS, I AM.””
John 8:58
Jesus was trying to get the people to see, just like the Father, He’s Everlasting.
Have you ever considered the God of Heaven’s address?
The God of Heaven’s Address:
Heaven Is His Home. This is why Jesus said when you pray to Him, pray like this in Matthew 6:9
Our Father WHICH ART IN HEAVEN, Hallowed be thy name.”

Daniel knew this well and declared in Daniel 2:28,
But THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN who reveals secrets, and he has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in the future… Daniel 2:28
Isaiah 66:1 says,
“This is what the Lord says: “HEAVEN IS MY THRONE, and the earth is my footstool. Could you build me a temple as good as that? Could you build me such a resting place?”

“My hands have made both heaven and earth; they and everything in them are mine. I, the Lord, have spoken!”… Isaiah 66:2
Since HEAVEN IS HIS THRONE, and the earth is His footstool, that means He lives on top of your situation!
IF ONE WAS LOOKING OVER HIS RESUME, AND IF ONE WAS TO ASK THE GOD OF HEAVEN? "WHAT DO YOU LISTEN TO WHILE YOU WORK?”
I believe that He would reply, "That’s a great question because I’m always at work!” John 5:17 says,
But Jesus answered them, “To this very day MY FATHER IS AT HIS WORK, and I too am working.” John 5:17
"I know some people who like to listen to jazz while they work, some people like to listen to soft instrumentals while they work, but me personally, I listen to the prayers of my people while I work. I listen to the cries of my children while I work.” This is why Jeremiah 29:12-13 declares,
The God of Heaven listens to our prayers while He works…. Jeremiah 29:12-13
"Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, AND I WILL LISTEN TO YOU. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:12-13
The God of Heaven listens to our cries while He works…. Exodus 2:23
“Now it happened after a long time [about forty years] that the king of Egypt died. And the children of Israel (Jacob) groaned and sighed because of the bondage, AND THEY CRIED OUT. And they’re cry for help because of their bondage ASCENDED TO GOD.”
Exodus 2:23
“So GOD HEARD THEIR GROANING and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Israel).”

What do you work towards in your free time?
"Some work towards their degrees. Some work on acquiring badges. Some work in their gardens, or in their fields, Me, I work towards delivering my people.” This is why Exodus 3:7 says,
“And the Lord said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.”

“So I HAVE COME DOWN TO DELIVER THEM out of the hand of the Egyptians…

What separates you from other candidates?
What separates God from other candidates is, THERE ARE NO OTHER CANDIDATES!!!
“To whom then will you compare me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One.”
Isaiah 40:25
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.”
Isaiah 40:28
Isaiah 44:7 declares,
“Who is like me? Let him proclaim it. Let him declare and set it before me, since I appointed an ancient people. Let them declare what is to come, and what will happen.”

“Fear not, nor be afraid; have I not told you from of old and declared it? And you are my witnesses! Is there a God besides me? There is no Rock; I know not any.””

THERE ARE NO OTHER CANDIDATES… Isaiah 40:13 says,
“Who has measured the Spirit of the Lord, or what man shows him his counsel?”

“Whom did he consult, and who made him understand? Who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding?”

THERE ARE NO OTHER CANDIDATES… Isaiah 41:21-22 says,
““Present your case,” says the Lord. “Set forth your arguments,” says Jacob’s King. “Tell us, you idols, what is going to happen. Tell us what the former things were, so that we may consider them and know their final outcome. Or declare to us the things to come,”

“tell us what the future holds, so we may know that you are gods. Do something, whether good or bad, so that we will be dismayed and filled with fear.”

“But you are less than nothing and your works are utterly worthless; whoever chooses you is detestable.”

God goes on to say in verse 28….
“I look but there is no one— no one among the gods to give counsel, no one to give answer when I ask them.”

“See, they are all false! Their deeds amount to nothing; their images are but wind and confusion.”

Isaiah 44:6 sums it up like this…
“Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: “I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god.”

What does your ideal work environment look like?
GOD’S IDEAL WORK ENVIRONMENT IS THE IMPOSSIBLE.
What does my ideal work place look like? Place me in the impossible so that I can show you that I’m The God of Heaven! Place me in the impossible so that I can show you that there’s nobody like ME! Isaiah 41:17 says,
““The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. BUT I THE LORD WILL ANSWER THEM; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.”

“I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I WILL TURN THE DESERT INTO POOLS OF WATER, and the parched ground into springs.”

“I will put in the desert the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive. I will set junipers in the wasteland, the fir and the cypress together,”
Isaiah 41:19
“so that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the Lord has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.”

In Isaiah 43:19 The God of Heaven declares…
“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I WILL EVEN MAKE A WAY IN THE WILDERNESS, and rivers in the desert.”

What does my ideal work place look like? Place me in the impossible so that I can show you that I’m The God of Heaven! Place me in the impossible so that I can show you that there’s nobody like ME! Place me in the impossible so that I can show you that….
Impossible is where my power begins, not where my power ends.
I’m not capped off at impossible. I’m just getting warmed up good at impossible.
📝 Impossible is the FLOOR, not the CEILING for The God of Heaven.
I said all of that about THE GOD OF HEAVEN to say this….
📝 STOP TRIPPING.
📝 STOP RACING.
📝 STOP FORGETTING.
STOP TRIPPING.
Stop tripping about tomorrow, stop tripping about today, stop tripping about yesterday. Stop tripping on what if. FRET NOT!!! Philippians 4:6 says it like this,
📝 "BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;”

“and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:7
You can fret not because of Philippians 1:6,
“being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”
Philippians 1:6
STOP RACING.
Calm your mind down. Calm your thoughts down. Stop trying to run ahead of God. Stop racing.
“BE STILL, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
Psalms 46:10
Stop racing. Stop trying to run ahead of God. Be still and know that tomorrow belongs to THE GOD OF HEAVEN!
““So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”
Matthew 6:34
📝 You’re tired because you only have enough GRACE FOR TODAY, and not enough for tomorrow’s battles.
STOP FORGETTING.
“And He left them, and getting into the boat again, departed to the other side. Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, and they did not have more than one loaf with them in the boat.”
Mark 8:13-14
“Then He charged them, saying, “Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.””
Mark 8:15
“And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “It is because we have no bread.” But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, “Why do you reason because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive nor understand? Is your heart still hardened?”

“Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? AND DO YOU NOT REMEMBER?”

“When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, HOW MANY BASKETS full of fragments did you take up?” They said to Him, “Twelve.””

““Also, when I broke the seven for the four thousand, HOW MANY LARGE BASKETS full of fragments did you take up?” And they said, “Seven.””
Mark 8:20
Jesus said, "HOW MANY BASKETS DID YOU TAKE UP? HOW MANY LARGE BASKETS DID YOU FILL? I say to you today…
DON’T FORGET THE BASKETS!!!
Don’t forget all that you saw. Don’t forget all that He’s done. DON’T FORGET THE BASKETS!!!
“So He said to them, “How is it you do not understand?””

After hearing todays message on THE GOD OF HEAVEN. How is it you do not understand? Understand what AB???
📝 God’s GOT THIS.
📝 God’s GOT YOU.
📝 God’s GOT WHAT’S TO COME.
If one was to look over the God of Heaven’s resume and ask Him, "DO YOU HAVE ANY REFERENCES?” He would reply,
"Oh, I have many, but for the sake of time, let’s call on David.” David knew and believed in the THE GOD OF HEAVEN. David told his giant in 1 Samuel 17:45….
“You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” 1 Samuel 17:45
“This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.” 1 Samuel 17:46
“All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”” 1 Samuel 17:47
David begin to magnify THE GOD OF HEAVEN, over his giant on the earth that he was facing. May we learn to do the same.
My peace of mind is tied to my magnification.
My joy of my heart is tied to my magnification.
My faith is tied to my magnification.
My rest is tied my magnification.
📝 I believe that the GOD OF HEAVEN is greater than any giant on earth.
Magnify God over low self esteem.
Magnify God over insecurities.
Magnify God over fear.
Before David went to the battlefield, David Magnified The God of Heaven, and reviewed the God of Heaven’s resume before King Saul. 1 Samuel 17:37 says,
“The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you.””

📝 Keep His Resume ON FILE, for the next time life catches you OFF GUARD.
Keep His Resume ON FILE, for the next time you get called to the battle line.
But I guess it all starts with this question….
