“There’s More To The Story”
Pastor Albert Almore
On one hand we find Matthew 3:17…
“And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.””
Matthew 3:17 NKJV
On the other hand we find…
“But you are pure and cannot stand the sight of evil….”
Habakkuk 1:13 NLT
“For He made Him who knew no sin TO BE SIN for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
II Corinthians 5:21 NKJV
“And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?””
Matthew 27:46 NKJV
Has God the Father who FORGIVES, now FORSAKE?
HAVE YOU EVER FELT FORSAKEN BEFORE?
Jesus has.
“THIS HIGH PRIEST OF OURS UNDERSTANDS our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.”
Hebrews 4:15 NLT
Jesus was fully God, and fully man all at the same time. It’s not recorded that He cried out at the whipping post, or any other place.
“He was oppressed and afflicted, yet HE DID NOT OPEN HIS MOUTH.; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so HE DID NOT OPEN HIS MOUTH.”
Isaiah 53:7 NIV
“HE WAS PAINFULLY ABUSED, but he did not complain. He was silent like a lamb being led to the butcher, as quiet as a sheep having its wool cut off.”
Isaiah 53:7 CEV
He didn’t ask why the whipping post, thorns, or even the nails. With your help, I can take on the whipping post….but what is this…my God, my God, whhhy have you forsaken me? What’s going on???
“AT NOON, DARKNESS FELL ACROSS THE WHOLE LAND UNTIL THREE O’CLOCK. At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, WHY HAVE YOU ABANDONED ME?””
Matthew 27:45-46 NLT
AND THE ANGELS WERE SILENT. HEAVEN STOOD STILL. WHAT IS THIS? HEAVEN NEVER FELT ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE. WITH ALL EYES ON THE FATHER. THE FATHER LOOKS AWAY FROM THE SON. And the flesh, the human side of Jesus cried out, “Nooo! What is this? My God, my God, WHY???
“But you are pure and cannot stand the sight of evil….”
Habakkuk 1:13 NLT
“Listen! The Lord’s arm is not too weak to save you, nor is his ear too deaf to hear you call. 2) It’s YOUR SINS THAT HAVE CUT YOU OFF FROM GOD. Because of your sins, HE HAS TURNED AWAY and will not listen anymore.”
Isaiah 59:1-2 NLT
“For He made Him who knew no sin TO BE SIN...”
II Corinthians 5:21 NKJV
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin FOR US, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
II Corinthians 5:21 NKJV
“looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, WHO FOR THE JOY THAT WAS SET BEFORE HIM ENDURED THE CROSS, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Hebrews 12:2 NKJV
YOU WERE THE JOY SET BEFORE HIM.
He endured the cross for us. He did it all for us.
But these weren’t just words that Jesus pulled out of know where. These were words that Jesus pulled from the scriptures. These were words pulled from what everyone at the cross knew as the Messianic Psalm. The Psalm that Jesus was quoting was about himself.
“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, And from the words of My groaning?”
Psalms 22:1 NKJV
“My strength has dried up like sunbaked clay. My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You have laid me in the dust and left me for dead.”
Psalms 22:15 NLT
“After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I THIRST!””
John 19:28 NKJV
“For dogs have surrounded Me; The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me. They pierced My hands and My feet;”
Psalms 22:16 NKJV
“I can count all My bones. They look and stare at Me. They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.”
Psalms 22:17-18 NKJV
“Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments and made four parts, to each soldier a part, and also the tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, woven from the top in one piece.”
John 19:23 NKJV
“They said therefore among themselves, “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be,” that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says: “They divided My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.” Therefore the soldiers did these things.”
John 19:24 NKJV
“But You, O Lord, do not be far from Me; O My Strength, hasten to help Me! Deliver Me from the sword, My precious life from the power of the dog. Save Me from the lion’s mouth And from the horns of the wild oxen! YOU HAVE ANSWERED ME.”
Psalms 22:19-21 NKJV
“I WILL DECLARE YOUR NAME TO MY BRETHREN; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.”
Psalms 22:22 NKJV
“For he has not despised or scorned the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him BUT HAS LISTENED TO HIS CRY FOR HELP.”
Psalms 22:24 NIV
This is pointing to the resurrection. I am who I say I am. Even when my flesh feels weak, and I may look defeated, I’m declaring to you today, that there’s more to my story. End result…
“FROM YOU COMES THE THEME OF MY PRAISE in the great assembly; before those who fear you I will fulfill my vows.”
Psalms 22:25 NIV
“Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord. They will proclaim his righteousness, declaring to a people yet unborn: HE HAS DONE IT!”
Psalms 22:30-31 NIV
“The poor will eat and be satisfied; those who seek the Lord will praise him— may your hearts live forever!”
Psalms 22:26 NIV
Those who feel abandoned, overlooked, you shall eat. You shall be satisfied.
📝 • The one who FORESEES doesn’t FORSAKE.
“Then the Lord said to him, “Know for certain that for four hundred years your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own and that they will be enslaved and mistreated there. But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, AND AFTERWARD THEY WILL COME OUT with great possessions.”
Genesis 15:13-14 NIV
“God heard their groaning, and he remembered his covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He looked down on the people of Israel AND KNEW IT WAS TIME TO ACT.”
Exodus 2:24-25 NLT
📝 • God doesn’t FORSAKE. God FULFILLS.
“And the Lord said: “I have surely SEEN the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have HEARD their cry because of their taskmasters, for I KNOW their sorrows.”
Exodus 3:7 NKJV
📝 • God wants to use your EYES, your EARS, and your HEART, for those who feel abandoned.
God wants to see, hear, and feel through you.
DO YOU BELIEVE THAT THERE’S MORE TO YOUR STORY?
