"He'll See You Through"

Pastor Albert Almore

“Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her.”

Luke 7:11-12 NKJV

“When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.””

Luke 7:13-14 NKJV

“So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother. Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us”; and, “God has visited His people.””

Luke 7:15-16 NKJV

It’s so much to impact in this story, but the first three words in our opening scripture is a great place to start. Luke 7:11 opens up by saying….

“NOW IT HAPPENED…”

Luke 7:11 NKJV

I did a lot of digging into this story, and ironically enough nobody quite knows what happened, or when it happened, or how it happened. All we know is—IT HAPPENED.

The same goes for you for you this morning. Behind the smile, behind the makeup, behind the beautiful outfit nobody knows what happened, or when it happened, only you and God knows that—IT HAPPENED. And for those who do know what happened, they care, but they just don’t know how much pain you carry day in and day out. They care, and they know but they don’t know how much energy it takes for you to put one foot in front of the other. Everything was fine. Everything was dandy, and out of nowhere—IT happened.

Nobody knows how much faith and energy it takes for you just to show up. Especially after IT HAPPENED.

“And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being CARRIED OUT…”

Luke 7:12 NKJV

If this was your story maybe it wouldn’t be a dead man being carried out. Maybe for you it would be a dead dream being carried out. Maybe for you it would be what appears to be a dead prayer request being carried out. And for others it would’ve been a dead relationship or a dead marriage being carried out.

At least she had someone carrying it, because so many people in here today are trying to carry so much by themselves with tears in their eyes that they have to remove before walking into places. All the while thinking to theirselves, “IT WASN’T SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THIS!”

Luke writes 3 interesting things about this story that we must not ignore. This was her only child. Jesus called him a young man. And on top of ALL OF THIS—she was already a widow. Her husband had already passed away, now her only son passed away. I imagine her thinking to herself, if ONE MORE THING goes wrong in my life I’m going to lose it. If I get one more bad phone call. If I get one more piece of bad news I’m going to…

Because of these 3 details that Luke shared with us this woman was OVERWHELMED. And I want to speak to every woman in here this morning that feels—OVERWHELMED.

Overwhelmed trying to have a child. Overwhelmed because you miscarried a child. Overwhelmed with having a child but then had to burry that child. Overwhelmed with work, running a business, cooking meals, washing clothes, school pick up lines, sport practices, games….

The good news of the gospel in this story is in Luke 7:12 it says…

AND WHEN HE CAME NEAR...”

Luke 7:12 NKJV

This is the good news that we carry. This is the good news in which we stand. After the fall of Adam and Eve, after nobody else could restore us back to God, God Himself did it! God sent His Son, born of a woman who was fully God, fully man. GOD CAME NEAR! Can I tell you something this morning….

HE STILL DRAWS NEAR.

He still draws near to pain. He still draws near to tears. He still draws near to heavy hearts. Psalm 34:18…

THE LORD IS NEAR to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Psalm 34:18 ESV

I believe it was her pain that drew Him near. I believe it was her brokenness that drew Him near. As she was moving forward with tears in her eyes, little did she know that Jesus was drawing near.

“And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And A LARGE CROWD from the city was with her. WHEN THE LORD SAW HER, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.””

Luke 7:12-13 NKJV

“Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother.”

Luke 7:14-15 NKJV

Everything changed when He saw her….

Today’s Message

HE’LL SEE YOU THROUGH

…A LARGE CROWD from the city was with her. WHEN THE LORD SAW HER….

📝 ”There’s nothing in this world that’ll crowd Me out from SEEING YOU.”

As long as I have eyes on you—I’ll see you through.”

"Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, who had spoken to her. She said, “YOU ARE THE GOD WHO SEES ME.” She also said, "Have I truly seen THE ONE WHO SEES ME?”“

Genesis 16:13 NLT

God hasn’t lost His sense of sight. Nor His heart of compassion. He still sees. He still cares. He’s still omnipotent. He’ll still see you through. Because I know what you’ve been thinking. I know what you’ve been asking yourself. The same thing that Mary, the Mother of Jesus asked….

HOW???

“Then Mary said to the angel, “HOW CAN THIS BE…””

Luke 1:34 NKJV

“And the angel answered and said to her, “THE HOLY SPIRIT will come upon you, AND THE POWER OF THE HIGHEST...”

Luke 1:35 NKJV

📝 • The POWER OF GOD will see you through.

“And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest WILL OVERSHADOW YOU...”

Luke 1:35 NKJV

📝 Instead of you trying to OVERSHADOW the power of God, allow the power of God to OVERSHADOW you.

“So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but BY MY SPIRIT,’ Says the Lord of hosts.”

Zechariah 4:6 NKJV

“The dead man sat up and began to talk, and JESUS GAVE HIM BACK TO HIS MOTHER.”

Luke 7:15 NIV

There is a day coming where what took place in this story, will take place again once and for all for every tear that was shed for…

I Thessalonians 4:16 NKJV….

“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And THE DEAD IN CHRIST WILL RISE FIRST.

I Thessalonians 4:16 NKJV

“Then we who are alive and remain shall be CAUGHT UP TOGETHER WITH THEM IN THE CLOUDS to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.”

I Thessalonians 4:17 NKJV

Luke 7:15 NIV…

and JESUS GAVE HIM BACK TO HIS MOTHER.”

Luke 7:15 NIV

Joel 2:25 NLT…

The LORD says, “I WILL GIVE YOU BACK what you lost to the swarming locusts,

Joel 2:25 NLT

I WILL RESTORE TO YOU the years that the swarming locust has eaten,

Joel 2:25 ESV

Because of this promise we can respond like..

“So he said, “Why are you going to him today? It is neither the New Moon nor the Sabbath.” And she said, “IT IS WELL.””

II Kings 4:23

“Please run now to meet her, and say to her, ‘IS IT WELL WITH YOU? IS IT WELL with your husband? Is it well with the child?’ ” And she answered, “IT IS WELL.””

II Kings 4:26

📝 It’s not so much that it is well, but I believe that my God is GOING TO MAKE IT WELL.

📝 “They were all filled with awe and praised God. “A great prophet has appeared among us,” they said. “GOD HAS COME TO HELP HIS PEOPLE.””

Luke 7:16 NIV

IS IT WELL WITH THEE?
